Letter from the Town Clerk, to the Under Secretary of the Home Department regarding the fire risk to His Majesty’s Theatre from alterations to adjacent buildings.
There was concern that audience panic might ensue in the event of fire breaking out in one of the adjoining buildings.
This problem had been identified as a real risk by the Superintendent of the Brisbane Fire Brigade in a recent letter to the Lord Mayor.
It was requested that the lessee of His Majesty’s Theatre be called upon to take steps to improve the safety of his patrons.
