The historic Supreme Court Building situated on the corner of George and Ann Streets Brisbane, which was partially destroyed by fire on 1 September 1969. Thirty fire-fighters from the Woolloongabba and Kemp Place Stations fought the blaze but valuable records store there were destroyed. These records include most of the ecclesiastical files for 1955-1956 and the intestacy files for 1946-1968.
A cryptic message: Judge not lest you be judged - Sinner
was written on a large blotting paper pad in the courthouse. The culprit was apprehended when detained on another matter. He was convicted and sentenced to six year imprisonment for arson.*
