Digitisation Disposal Policy

In response to the implementation of Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (eDRMS) across government, Queensland State Archives has researched and developed a policy on the disposal of certain original paper records which have been digitised.

The Digitisation Disposal Policy was developed after extensive consultation with Queensland public authorities and is authorised under section 25 of the Public Records Act 2002.

The policy provides guidance on how your agency may be able to seek authorisation for the early disposal of certain original paper records after digitisation.

The policy should be read in conjunction with the Guideline on the Digitisation of Paper Records. It provides further information on the authorisation process in accordance with this policy, as well as advice on the technical and management issues involved in establishing a digitisation project.
