Mail, Email, Facsimile and Telephone Queries
Queensland State Archives provides a limited general research service.
Please refer to the Public Access Policy which outlines the service available.
- Enquiries can be submitted by mail, email, facsimile or telephone.
- Email enquiries will not be processed unless a name, postal address and email address is included.
- Requests will be responded to in the order in which they are received with a response returned usually within 10 working days.
- Requests for quotes and/or copies of documents where the full Queensland State Archives reference is given are given priority over copy requests which require lengthy research. Some examples:
- When requesting a copy of a letter please provide the following details: Item ID 846772 (COL/A42) Letters 66/1852 to 67/816, 10 January 1866 from John Brown to the Colonial Secretary
- For a School Admission entry: Item ID 637774, Woodridge State School Admissions, John Smith, 1926
- For a Land record: Item ID 36933, Land Selection File, William Smith, Bundaberg, 637, Microfilm Z4858
- Researchers who reside outside the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Pine Rivers, Redcliffe and Redlands, including national and international researchers will be provided with approximately two hours of research assistance.
- Members of the general public are welcome to visit the Queensland State Archives Public Search Room to carry out their research or could employ the services of a search agent to do so.
